Mama Ganache
Strange as it sounds, I decided to try Mama Ganache chocolate because I bought a terra cotta bowl from them. The bowl had little carvings of cocoa pods all over it. I thought it was too cute. Every time I have a piece of dark chocolate from that little bowl with the pods; it puts a smile on my face. It was an expensive little bowl too! Way over priced. But the proceeds go to a good cause. It’s fair trade chocolate so I support it completely. It makes me happy to think I can help support a struggling economy because who knows? At this rate, the struggling economy is going to be my own country’s-any day now. I’d like to think our brothers and sisters in Latin America and Africa might all pitch in to help us in our time of need. But I digress.
Getting back to the chocolate…Mama Ganache has some fabulous creations. I’m a sucker for packaging so if the box is cute, I’m buying-and they have quite a few little collectables one might admire. Truffles, gifts, bars, boxes, wedding favors, did I mention cute little terra cotta bowls in different colors? Too cute.
But how does the chocolate taste? Pretty amazing. I would say, “What chocolate tastes bad?” But there are a lot of chocolates out there that taste like wax. Or, they’re gritty, or not really chocolate at all like so-called “white” chocolate. Which is kind of like white zinfandel, isn’t it? Not really wine at all. If I didn’t know better I’d say I was a snob. But I do know better and I am a snob. So if I recommend a chocolate, it’s gotta be good.
They get their beans from The Dominican Republic, Peru, or Costa Rico. Their products are organic and fair trade-like two soybeans in the pod of sustainability as they like to say.
I can’t figure out for the life of me where these chocolates can be purchased but I bought mine online. So that’s certainly an option. Try my friends at Mama-Ganache, its good stuff!
